🛏️ Using Your Fleece Tunnels

Will the tunnel stay open, or does it collapse?

Our tunnels are boning-free by design, which means they can squish during play—but that’s exactly how many small pets like it! The flexible shape encourages natural behaviours like headbutting, burrowing, and flopping. If it gets flattened, simply roll your arms through the inside to reshape it in seconds.

Is it big enough for my guinea pig?

Yes! Each tunnel is approximately 11.5" long and 7" wide, making it roomy enough for even large adult guinea pigs. Many customers use them for boars, bonded pairs, or chunkier piggies with plenty of wiggle room.

What if my pet pees inside?

That’s totally fine—the fleece is pre-wicked to absorb moisture straight away, and the inner wadding layer helps soak up any wee. It won’t pool or leak, and most owners only need to wash the tunnel during their regular weekly cage clean. Just pop it in the machine on a 30°C gentle cycle and let it air dry or tumble on low.

Can I use this for pets other than guinea pigs?

Yes! These tunnels are also loved by hedgehogs, rats, hamsters, and other small pets who enjoy snuggling, hiding, or burrowing. Just make sure the size works for your animal's needs.

What if my guinea pig just sits on top of it?

That’s totally normal—many guinea pigs use the fleece tunnel to flop on, especially in warmer weather. The lightly structured shape makes it perfect for both zooming through or lounging on top to cool down.

Does hair stick to the fleece? Is it hard to clean?

Some hair collects on fleece, but our anti-pil fabric has a smooth finish—so it’s easy to brush or remove with a lint roller. Leaving a little behind can actually help your guinea pig feel more at home and may reduce scent marking after a clean.

💧 Washing & Care

Can I wash the whole thing?

Yes - the fleece tunnels are machine washable. We recommend a gentle 30°C cycle and air drying. They’re quick to dry and built to last through repeated washing.

Is the stitching and quality reliable?

Yes. Every tunnel is sewn with care and checked before shipping. We use strong, anti-pil fleece and durable layers that hold up wash after wash.

Can I use fabric softener?

No—we recommend avoiding fabric softener, as it can coat the fleece fibres and stop it from wicking moisture properly.

What detergent should I use?

Use an unscented, sensitive-skin laundry detergent. Add a splash of white vinegar to help neutralise odours and refresh the fibres.

Can I wash them with other laundry?

We suggest washing tunnels separately from your clothes. You can wash them with other pet items like towels or liners, but avoid mixing with human laundry. To protect your washing machine, we highly recommend using a horse laundry bag or pet laundry bag—these help contain fur and hay so your machine doesn’t get clogged.

Will washing the fleece tunnels damage my washing machine?

Not if you take a few simple precautions. Always shake off loose hay and fur first, and wash the sacks inside a horse laundry bag or pet laundry bag. These bags help contain debris and protect your machine’s filter. It’s also a good idea to check and clean the filter regularly, especially if you’re washing fleece items often.

I don't have space to air dry—why can't I tumble dry?

The fleece and polycotton layers may shrink slightly over time if you tumble dry. If you do use a tumble dryer, stick to a low or medium setting. For the longest life and best fit, we recommend air drying—heated airers or towel radiators work well and the pads dry quickly.
